Kelly Cort, Owner

In answer to the emptying nest, Kelly turned to what she knew best as an outlet for her creativity--sewing and Michigan! From MI house to Yours, The Cort House was born.

Kelly enjoys listening to podcasts (ever learning) and being creative, whether in the sewing room, the kitchen, or the garage. She is one busy lady, keeping up with the antics of her husband, Russ; her five adult children, two sons-in-law, two perfect grandchildren, and one not-so-perfect dog, Moose. Add to that keeping her employees hopping and her customers happy, and you have more than a full-time job!

Willow Cort, Assistant

Growing up with four siblings and being home-schooled by Mom, Willow had lots of opportunities to practice both "relating" and "creating". Thus, her college major and minor, Advertising/Public Relations and Graphic Design, were no brainers. She graduates in 2018.

Willow has worked with The Cort House since its inception, and her penchant for organization (after all, her aspiration is to be a personal assistant) and streamlining, as well as her sense of "with-it-ness" brings the vivacity of Generation Z to the team.

Debbie Goldsborough, Cutting and Assembly

Every team needs some wrinkles and grey hair (let's say laugh lines and silver tresses). Debbie and her husband, Bill, moved to the Upper Peninsula in 1986 where they raised their family of four boys on the shores of Lake Michigan.

As a prelude to full retirement, she brings to the team both hands and tongue. Yes, she's a talker! After a more than 30 year career in education, Debbie knows how to burn the midnight oil and meet deadlines. Her vivid story telling and laughter make the work pass quickly, and she aspires to one day write a memoir.

Joanna Childers, Prep Pro

Jo prepares fabric and cuts never-ending amounts of Heat and Bond! A natural fashionista, Jo brings a little class to our team, and if her perfectly put-together ensemble happens to feature a bargain discovered at a thrift store or outlet, so much the better. With Jo, bargain-hunting is an art form.

This past year Jo and her husband, Pat, experienced the fulfillment of two dreams--they became the parents of their first child, Jackson David, and they were able to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary by saying arriverdverci to Michigan and flying off on a three-week European tour. That's our Jo!
